I love Gothenburg, Sweden. The Swedes absolutely understand how to make fresh pop. In the past year at least two Gothenburg groups, The Tough Alliance and Jens Lekman, have made huge splashes in the indie scene. These two artists are a huge signal of the wealth of talent in the Gothenburg area. Another of my favorite bands from this part of Sweden is the band Air France. They made a tiny splash last year with their EP entitled “On Trade Winds,” and their track Beach Party from this EP made Pitchfork’s top 100 songs of last year. They recently dropped a new EP entitled “No Way Down,” and it stands as one of the coolest works I’ve heard this year and improves upon last years work as well. Air France has an almost downtempo ambient feel that they combine with pop music to make some of the best music out there for when you get back from a long night out, or are just trying to enjoy a nice hot afternoon and a cold drink. Their music is pure relaxation to me. Here is a new track from the Now Way Down EP and the video for last year’s “Beach Party.” If you like what you hear please buy the EP from their label Sincerely Yours.
